Welcome to Middle School
At NGFS, we know that creating a safe environment is crucial in Middle School. It allows students to explore the intellectual, emotional, and social questions that are central to this time in their development: Who am I? Will people notice me? What kind of a friend am I? What does it mean to be part of a diverse community? Research tells us that these years are critical to identity formation and central to a student’s academic trajectory.
The Middle School team appreciates the unique combination of intensity and indifference that can characterize the students in their care. Our teachers and staff excel at noticing the details, who needs a little extra attention today, who writes poetry, who loves to draw. They recognize that Middle School students crave freedom but need guidance, and that being seen and appreciated can make all the difference.
