Summer Navigators

  • Summer Navigators camp is held on the Guilford Campus at 1128 New Garden Road.

Summer Navigators is a level of summer camp that allows rising 4th and 5th graders to explore new activities and themes in an age-appropriate group. Themes for this program were created using a blend of ideas from both our Adventures and Explorers’ sessions, giving the participants a bridge between the two camps. The smaller group size in this program provides the opportunity to do more in-depth and developmentally appropriate activities and projects.

2025 Summer Navigators Sessions

June 9-13 - Wacky Games! ($280)

This week we will play a variety of individual and team games that can range from physically demanding to very laid back. We will spend a lot of time outside playing field games and games in the woods around our school. We will play beckon, camouflage, rocks, Koob, and croquet. We will also play tabletop board games and card games like Pit, Slamwich, and many other strange and fun fast-paced games. We’ll also have plenty of inside cool-down card and board games to play like Tacocat, Abducktion, and WAY more! We’ll have daily wacky game challenges where campers can challenge the counselors. Who will emerge victorious?! Come ready to play and have fun, win or lose!

June 16-20* - League of Legendary Explorers ($225)

*This is a 4-day week, as we are closed Thursday, June 19, for the national holiday, Juneteenth.

Our campers will follow in the footsteps of explorers both fictional and historical, as they journey around the world to explore hidden locations and find legendary treasure. They will learn how the great explorers of history navigated and deciphered Egyptian hieroglyphs and Viking runes. They will use this knowledge to investigate mysterious locations inspired by Egyptian tombs and the labyrinth of Crete. In the downtime between adventures, we will stave off hunger by trying ancient recipes and keep boredom at bay with board games from the civilizations we will be examining.

June 23-27 - Weird Science ($280)

Tackle feats of science this week with all kinds of fun chemistry experiments and see Science in Action! We will mix lots of gooey concoctions to create slime and oobleck, as well as exploring forces like gravity and magnetism. How can we experiment with light? Can we predict chemical interactions? How do common everyday items really work? Can we discover the reasons for certain optical illusions and physics tricks? Can you measure the speed of light with household materials? Let’s see if these investigations can be tackled by our crack team of non-professional scientists. Don’t worry parents; we will take the utmost safety precautions and never do anything dangerous.

July 7-11 - Flight of the Navigators ($280)

Join the United Federation of Friends School and jump into the world of Science Fiction, as we figure out how time travel works, watch some fun sci-fi shows, design and build your own spaceships, design a planet colony, eat astronaut ice cream, and create your own alien species. We will launch model rockets, and learn about navigating with constellations. Help write your own sci-fi comic and star in it as well.

July 14-18 - Goofballs ($280)

This session gives participants the chance to have fun playing games and sports combined with venturing out to discover fun around town. We will explore local parks, see some local oddities, play tag and card games, and compete in goofy 60 second challenges. We will make our own lunch, and go out to eat another day, shop for movie snacks and watch a movie, and make cookies and brownies. Come hang out and have a goofy, fun week!

July 21-25 - Carpentry ($310)

This session will give participants the opportunity to hone basic skills using hand tools and learn more finish work techniques on their wood creations, including sanding and staining with eco-friendly stains. Each builder will choose a project from many options and plans, including the classic treasure chest, bookshelf, toolbox, and more. We have some sci-fi inspired options from last year’s projects! We will also complete other wood craft projects and expand on other activities outside the workshop!
